25/7

Finally,
something worthwhile to talk about.

I should really be doing my EoM now, since I haven't done anything about it yet and the deadline is tomorrow. So damn dead.
OK so.

Weeks ago, it seemed bad for Alpha again for the Titans this year.
Few of the most competent guys, were unable to join.
Ivan from a shoulder dislocation. Xuan jie, recovering from his knee. And Shao jie, from a shin injury.
The applications were filling up slowly, with vacancies nearing the day of the first training.

Still, enough people were gathered to be in the event for Alpha.

Last Friday, they surprised everyone by leading the log event, proving that teamwork remains triumphant against one or two beef-machines in the house :D

Everyone got pumped up, and the momentum going, till the rain came down on the next day. The run was postponed to the next weekend.

Bad news came along. Several guys couldn't make it on the postponed date (23, 24 July). Yik Boon, Agilan and Ivan had to replace the guys. Still, there was a spot they had to fill. Ivan, as one of my closest friends, approached me. I couldn't to say no to him again. Like the way I did during the application period, fuelled by my insecurities and doubts of my abilities. I had to agree to it, but just for the individuals.

Friday(23th) was the day of the individual events. Though we did not particularly shine in the events, Alpha held together and completed the events with much faith and will. Unfortunately, Yik Boon, who was one of the faster runners around, fell during the suicides and was unable to attend the 7k run the very next day. Soon it dawned on them that another replacement was needed. Once again, the guys had to approach me. I was so darn reluctant. I couldn't give Jian Le, Xuan Jie, Ivan, Shao Jie, a definite reply. I was lost as to what I was to do, being held back by my preconceived notion of being a terrible runner. Give in, or give up? However, after seeing the sweat and effort my fellow titans had put in for this, and the team's swelling desire for the trophy , the least I could do was to help out, giving in to the house, and giving up on my unnecessary concerns.

Saturday came and everyone was ready for the run. Though long distance running was one thing I dreaded, I was actually ready for the run. All I had on my mind was to help Alpha finish up her job for good. The yells and the screams through the air as we went through our 7k route was pure ecstasy. Everyone persevered and no one faltered, as we made it through the run with one of the best timings.

Thereafter, we prepared ourselves for the announcements of the results. Casper and Christy both did extremely well and made Alpha proud by coming in overall 5th and 1st for the Top 10 Men and Women, kudos to them! However, as the procession went on, and the participants for the other houses went up constantly to receive the prizes, the mood in Alpha began to dip (or so as I felt).

However when the announcer yelled "Alpha" whilst anouncing the winning house, the pent up emotions and frenzy set in.

Each and everyone of us hopped onto their seats and cheered till their throats went hoarse and dry.

But we continued anyway.
The adrenaline that streamed through our veins throughout the event just erupted. It was just pure bliss, as we basked in the glory upon us through the dedication we put in.

Maybe its just moments like this that make things all worth while.

Thank you the Alpha Titans, thanks the the guys who brought me into this no matter how insistent and hard-headed I was, I wouldn't have known so much more about myself. Without each and everyone of you, nothing would have been possible.
